The Housing Authority today announced it will pass on the rates concession for 2021-22 to its domestic and non-domestic tenants starting from April. The measure was announced in this year's Budget. A maximum amount of $2.376 billion will be passed on to domestic tenants, while non-domestic tenants and licensees will receive a maximum of $61.5 million. The authority said domestic tenants' rates from April 2021 to March 2022 will be waived subject to a cap of $1,500 per quarter in the first two quarters and a cap of $1,000 per quarter in the remaining two quarters for each rateable property. A pro-rata basis will be used for tenancies that last for less than a month. The transfer will apply to interim housing licensees and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. The rates concession for the authority’s non-domestic properties, excluding car parks, will also be passed on to non-domestic tenantslicensees. Their monthly rates will be waived subject to a cap of $5,000 per quarter in the first two quarters and a cap of $2,000 per quarter in the remaining two quarters for each rateable non-domestic property. For the authority's 13 single-operator markets, the operators will pass on the rates concession to their licensees in full.
